Boxes

Gathering and curating collections of memorable items, heritage and cultural objects, books, photos, arts and crafts, homeware is a feature of our CONNECT-CHALLENGE-CHANGE approach. Encouraging people of all ages to start new conversations, to be curious and to learn about each other.

These Heritage Boxes are available to borrow for use with people of all ages including schools, playgroups, youth groups, community hubs, U3A groups, care homes, in fact any place that lifelong learning takes place and there is curiosity.

Heritage Boxes contain heritage items, memorable objects grouped in themes, countries or a loose time in history with supporting materials, images and activities. All of the items can be handled to help people of all ages get a real feel for the past and the present, the familiar and the exotic. Each box can be used for many subjects and as a starting point for activities such as creative writing, art stimulus, reminiscence, historical exploration.

Each box contains a selection of authentic items, many with a ‘people story’ behind them, and often sourced from country or region of origin, sometimes donated with a family/ community memory attached. Each box has background information, ready-to-use activities and sometimes presentations/ short films. The boxes include ideas to begin with identity, heritage, our shared humanity through items as well as opportunities to explore a country.

A wide range of Global Collections are available to borrow, information can be found at:- https://glade.org/resources/global-resource-loans/
